Hindu Dharma Samudaya of Bhutan (HDSB) is a religious foundation, established in the year 2009 and is registered with Chhodey Lhentshog, the Commission for Religious Organization of Bhutan. It is dedicated to promote traditions and spiritual practices of Sanathan Dharma in Bhutan to enable foster and strengthen human values. The aims and objectives of this organization is to promote peaceful co-existence and reverence of all sentient beings in all segments of Bhutanese society.
HDSB is an apex body of Sanatan Dharma and its institutions like temples, religious sites and different sects. It is expected to function as a bridge between the Bhutanese Hindu community and the Chhoedey Lhentshog, Royal Government of Bhutan. It is mandated to develop general guidelines on Hindu religious practices and initiate to unite & integrate all segments of Hindu Dharma without any discrimination on the basis of social or sectarian status. Further, it is expected to promote religious harmony and strive to strengthen socio-cultural development and unity in the country and co-ordinate/conduct prayers, religious discourses, meditation and yoga classes as well as organize and celebrate religious functions, festivals and events for peace and well-being of the King, country and people of Bhutan.
The samudaya is also mandated to promote Sanskrit Pathsalas (where needed) and initiate preservation, renovation, rehabilitation and construction of temples and other institutions of religious and cultural significance in the country. It is mandated to register and record all public religious institutions and sites of religious significance and monitor their operations.
